If you have an old style licence then you must bring a valid passport. No other form of photo ID will be accepted.
Your driving test will last approximately 40 minutes. Once you have met your examiner your test will start with an eyesight check and 2 vehicle safety questions, also known as Show Me Tell Me. (link here to the questions). You will then start your practical driving test which will include 2 manoeuvres and possibly an emergency stop. During your test you can make up to 15 minor driving faults and still pass the test, 16 or more minors or 1 serious or 1 dangerous fault and you will fail. The examiner is looking to see if you can drive safely and that you can demonstrate a good understanding of the Highway Code through your driving. You will be given verbal directions to follow and you will be asked to carry out any 2 of the following Reversing round a corner It is important to try and stay calm during your test & drive in the manor your instructor has taught you. You are allowed to have someone sit in the back of your car during the test. They must be over 16 years of age and must not take any part in the test. If on the day of your test there are adverse weather conditions then the DSA will rearrange your test at no extra cost. There is a contact number to ring on your appointment letter if you are unsure on the day. If you pass, then the DSA recommend you take the PASS PLUS course which the SLK Driving School is registered to do. click here
